Pet harnesses feature comfortable, shaped, adjustable collar area and adjustable girth strap. Why two patterns? One for the larger sizes and one for the smaller sizes? The technique for making the straps is different in each pattern. The straps in the smaller sizes pattern are very lightweight, while the straps in the larger sizes pattern are more traditional weight. While the basic instructions are the same and can be used interchangeably, using the heavier style straps with the very small hardware can be a challenge.

Pet Harness Kit

Using this kit and your favorite fabrics, you can make your pet a unique harness. Designed for comfort, this harness will fit a broad range of pets. (girth measurements ranging from 12" to 44". Includes custom fitting directions to fit any size.) This project requires only basic sewing skills and equipment (home sewing machine). Kit includes detailed, illustrated instructions and top quality hardware to make one harness using your fabric*. Available in Small, Medium or Large/Extra Large.  Basic leash instructions included.

*Harness straps are made from cotton fabric and heavy weight interfacing. No nylon webbing needed.


Each Kit includes:

*Instructions for all size harnesses. (except from small kit shown below) All hardware styles use same instructions.

*1 set hardware in your choice of size and style.

*Basic Leash Instructions.

Webbing Conversion Chart-This chart is meant to be used in combination with the instructions in Creative Designworks Collar Kits. The kits do not have specific instructions for using webbing. Use the measurements in the chart to substitute nylon webbing for the handmade cotton webbing. Then follow the instructions to construct your item.

Small: fits 12 to 20" girth, 5/8" wide straps

Medium: fits 18 to 28" girth, 3/4" wide straps

Large: fits 20 to 34" girth, 1" wide straps

Extra Large: fits 26 to 44" girth, 1" wide straps


Choose one size for hardware to be included in kit.

This project requires only basic sewing skills and equipment (home sewing machine). Kit includes detailed, illustrated instructions and top quality hardware for one harness with 1/2" or 3/8" wide straps to make using your fabric*.  Basic leash instructions included.

*Harness straps are made from cotton fabric and fusible webbing. No nylon webbing needed.

Order refill hardware to make additional harnesses rather than duplicate kits for the best value.
